Okanagan Falls

Welcome to Okanagan Falls

Sitting on the south shores of Skaha Lake is the small town known as Okanagan Falls (OK Falls), a community surrounded by rolling mountains, vineyards, and an abundance of activities. This little town got its name from twin waterfalls that once flowed from the end of Skaha Lake into the Okanagan River. In the 1950s, the falls were reduced into gentle rapids to reduce the amount of water flowing for flood control purposes. We thought it would be helpful to clear that up right away…

With a population of around 2,500 people, it’s a close knit community. During the summer months, tourists from all over come and enjoy the abundance of outdoor adventure, wineries, and rich agriculture. The winter months bring mild temperatures and the town itself quiets down. The simplicity of small town living, good weather, and friendly locals make it a great place to live.

Located 25 minutes south of Penticton and 40 minutes north of Osoyoos, Okanagan Falls is an easy place to get to. By vehicle, it is 4.5 hours east of Vancouver and 8 hours east of Calgary.

Home to one of the warmest lakes in Canada, world class wineries, and vast amounts of hiking & biking trails, Okanagan Falls is an ideal vacation destination. We’ve outlined the top things to do, places to stay, and eat / drink options below, so continue reading to see what this beautiful South Okanagan town has to offer!

Many outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to Skaha Bluffs for top-notch rock climbing and endless hiking. Enjoy hiking or biking along the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, take in the views on top of Fire Mountain, or simply relax in the sunshine at Christie Memorial Park.

Wine

For a small town, there is no shortage of wineries to explore. The desert-like landscape means hot days and cool nights, which allows for the grapes to retain certain levels of acidity and taste. Check out a variety of world-class wineries and learn the unique stories behind each one.

Beaches

Sitting on one of the warmest lakes in Canada, OK Falls has a variety of beaches to check out. Christie Memorial Park is the town’s largest beach, featuring large grassy areas, soft sand, shade trees, and everything needed for a fun family beach day.
