Osoyoos

Welcome to Osoyoos

Osoyoos, meaning “the narrows” in the traditional Syilx language, is the southernmost town in the Okanagan Valley. Sharing a border with Washington State, Osoyoos is surrounded by rolling hills, deserts, and beautiful lakes. Home to the warmest lake in Canada, Osoyoos Lake, it’s a very popular destination for travellers near and far.

Home to just over 5,000 residents, this small town is known for its vast amount of wineries, lake life, and unique desert landscape. Located directly on the USA/Canada border, Osoyoos is a common access point for travellers to get into Washington State. By vehicle, it’s 5 hours east of Vancouver and 2 hours south of Kelowna.

Hot, dry summers attract travellers to spend their days lounging by the lake, boating, visiting wineries, and exploring the various hiking areas. Winters here are mild, allowing for plenty of agricultural practices to continue throughout the year. Orchards and vineyards scatter the area, creating a wonderful contrast between the baron desert and luscious vegetation.

The local residents are welcoming and proud to share the place they call home. The Syilx Okanagan Nation are the first inhabitants of this beautiful land, and we’re able to learn a lot about their history in various forms in the area.

We’ve outlined the most popular things to do, places to stay, and the eat/drink destinations below. Take a look through to help you plan your vacation to this charming South Okanagan town!
