Sun Peaks has largely been carved from
the imagination of one woman, Nancy Greene,
Director of Skiing and Olympic Gold Medallist.
She has conceived a pre-dominantly 'ski-in,
ski-out', ski resort 45 minutes from Kamloops, BC that will appeal greatly
to the complete beginner - with it's excellent
green trails for learning new skills and
fantastic 5 mile top-to-bottom greenie for
building confidence and pootling gently down.
The ski school has the usual high standard of
instruction that we have come to expect in North
America and the prices of lessons represent
outstanding value, even before the generous
exchange rate is factored in. A five-day Ski or
Snowboard Week will have you whooping and
hollering your way down intermediate runs in
fine style.
There is a lot more of this on offer - 'Sundance
Ridge' is pure cruisers delight, you'll find
'Sunrise' on this mountain, a straight swathe
through the trees. Or 'Peek-a-Boo' a black run
that is simply a little steeper - nothing too
perilous.
For winter 2005.2006 Sun Peaks have a new quad
chair, new terrain, and new facilities. The new
quad chair on Tod Mountain will allow faster
access to the deepest and driest powder, great
glade skiing, and advanced/expert terrain on Tod
Mountain. The new quad also provides skiers with
quicker return to the Crystal Chairlift
accessing popular runs like Chute, Spillway,
Green Door, and the Headwalls. The new Umbrella
Café at Mt. Morrisey features a fully
retractable roof, and provides guests with
further on-mountain dining options. New leading
edge Kids Ranch animated theme park with
dedicated terrain and fun features especially
designed for kids 3-12 years old. There are also
four new intermediate (blue) runs on the lower
part of Orient Ridge will provide easier access
to the East Village.
